Trip to Paris!

I was in Paris this past week with my students from Degree Unit D. We had a great time! Here are some snaps from the trip. My favorite building was the National Communist Party H/Q by Oscar Niemeyer. I really have to go to Brazil!
Also there was a great exhibition on at Foundation Cartier by John Maeda. If you are in Paris go and check it out.

A Little Dish on the Side!

Here is a site of one of my students in Degree Unit D, Taesik Seo. Here is a little blurb on what it is and all about. Go and have a look!!!!
http://www.baanchan.net
/Baanchan/ is the name of my future office that I will open with one of my friends. It means Sidedish in Korean, but there are some other meanings, something like "thesis-antithesis-synthesis". Anyway, I would like to express my ideas about architecture, my hobby and my study in U.K. through this blog.

Lightness-Houses: Case Studies for livable spaces of evanescence in public and private London!

“In this architecture of “lightness,” buildings become intangible, structures shed their weight, and facades become unstable, dissolving into an often luminous evanescence.”
Terence Riley

“Taken literally, the term private house might apply to any dwelling that shelters an individual or family, whether it is a palace or a tent. However, in Western culture the private house has been subject to tremendous interest and controversy in that it has been considered as a type of housing intended for a specific class of people: the bourgeoisie in Europe and the middle class in the United States. As such, the concept of the private house has become associated with a range of political, moral, social, and economic issues. “
